As mentioned in an earlier note, 2026 is a year of milestones in my family and in May we are celebrating our son, Vincent’s graduation from Northern Arizona University (NAU) Honors College. High School and college graduations are such a fun time when life is full of promise. Last weekend, we were in Flagstaff celebrating at the Skydome and it was special and amazing how many parents and first-generation students were graduating with bachelors, master’s, and doctorate degrees at the ceremony. The commencement addresses were poignant and purposeful. Talking with young people and listening to their hopes and plans this weekend, it was hard not to smile and feel inspired by the next generation. I was moved and impacted, unexpectedly.
This week the family arrives from out of town, and we look forward to celebrating this weekend at our home. I expect to hear from other recent graduates about their plans and ideas and smile some more. I also expect to be asked more about my career and share why I have enjoyed being an attorney and helping others. I hope you are able to fully participate in your own family and friends’ graduations and celebrations. I encourage you to talk with new graduates as they look at the world with a fresh pair of eyes and seek to learn from you. I suspect you will smile and be inspired too.
